Matrix Medical Network to Require COVID-19 Vaccinations for Workforce

Matrix Medical Network to Require COVID-19 Vaccinations for Workforce

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., September 9, 2021 — Matrix Medical Network (Matrix) today announced they will require all Matrix team members to be fully vaccinated by October 25, 2021 barring certain exemptions. Matrix has provided expert clinical care and health services to millions of at-risk individuals where they live and work for more than 20 years and is taking this important step to ensure the safety of employees, their families, and the companies and communities they serve.

“Safety is a top priority for Matrix and our COVID-19 vaccine mandate reflects that commitment. Vaccination is the single most effective thing we can do to protect our team members, their families, and their communities,” said Matrix Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Keith Henthorne.

“Matrix has worked since the beginning of the pandemic to develop and implement strategies to mitigate the risk of the virus to our employees and their families, as well as within the communities and companies where we live and work. With rapidly rising COVID-19 case counts and the contagious and dangerous Delta variant, which has led to increasing rates of severe illness and hospitalization among the unvaccinated U.S. population, now is the time to take this important step to ensure we have a fully vaccinated Matrix workforce,” said Matrix Chief Medical Officer and Group President Daniel Castillo, MD, MBA.

“The pandemic taught us many lessons and reinforced the importance of not delaying preventative care measures like vaccination to help protect populations such as younger children who are unable to get vaccinated themselves. The recent rise in COVID-19 cases driven by the easily transmitted Delta variant underscores the need for vaccinations to protect our families, our communities, and ourselves,” said Matrix Clinical Care Chief Medical Officer Ryan Heyborne, MD, MBA, FACEP.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., August 5, 2021 — Tyson Foods recently announced that to protect team members, their families and their communities, the company will require its team members at U.S. office locations to be fully vaccinated by October 1, 2021. Matrix Clinical Care Expands In-Home Services with New Testing and Diagnostic Capabilities

Matrix Clinical Care Expands In-Home Services with New Testing and Diagnostic Capabilities

Fully Integrated Lab Provides Tests and Screenings to Expedite Care

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., July 20, 2021 — Matrix Clinical Care, a Matrix Medical Network® (Matrix) company, today announced an expanded set of in-home testing and diagnostic capabilities to meet increasing demand for in-home healthcare. Through the strategic acquisition of a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited lab in 2020, Matrix expanded its suite of fully integrated in-home testing solutions. Matrix will partner with payors to extend the diagnostic screening capabilities available to their members, allowing Matrix clinicians to provide better real-time education and care to patients.

For more than 20 years, Matrix has been meeting patients where they live to assess their health, provide care and counsel, and perform preventative tests. Matrix has worked with millions of individuals to assess and manage health risks through a national network of approximately 5,000 clinicians and tests such as A1C and colorectal cancer screenings. Equipping Matrix clinicians with new testing and diagnostic capabilities like Lead testing for pediatric patients and Diabetic Retinopathy Exams will allow them to provide better education and patient care.

“The pandemic taught us many lessons and reinforced the benefits of in-home care and the importance of not delaying preventative health screenings and visits. This, combined with the growing number of Americans living with chronic conditions, led to Matrix expanding our capabilities to help patients where they live,” said Matrix Clinical Care Chief Medical Officer Ryan Heyborne, MD, MBA, FACEP. “We visit more than 3,500 patients in-home every day, many of whom are living with chronic or co-morbid conditions, have anxiety about going to a medical facility, or need preventative care. We look forward to being able to better help them with integrated lab services and expert clinicians.”

Matrix Clinical Labs provides a broad range of extensive testing options to health plans, provider groups, and health systems that support early detection and preventative care, HEDIS[i] and STARs[ii] gap closure, and patient education. Lab solutions and services include:

  • Customizable testing programs, including at-home test capabilities and point-of-care testing
  • State-of-the-art technology including instruments, data, and analytics
  • Diagnostic capabilities that include clinical chemistry and immunoassays, molecular and genomic assays, hematology, and coagulation
  • Integrated results reporting with real-time access
  • Research and development from leaders with expertise on the development of diagnostic algorithms that drive improved patient outcomes
  • Real-time support through an online portal and live customer excellence center

“I have been a nurse practitioner for more than 23 years and find that many patients are much more comfortable receiving care and talking about their health in their own home. By conducting screenings and tests in-home we have more opportunities to provide valuable patient education and improve patient outcomes. We identify safety concerns, medication errors, new symptoms, undertreated chronic diseases, and social determinants of health. We then provide care based on short- and long-term needs to make an immediate difference in the patient’s quality of life,” said Matrix Clinical Care Clinician Kelly Skovira, DNP. “Having an in-house lab gives us diagnostic experts to call on in real-time and no transfer of patient information outside of Matrix. Additional screening capabilities will lead to better preventative care and diagnoses for many that would have otherwise gone undiagnosed and untreated.”

Triumph Foods Granted Safety Verified Certification Through Matrix Clinical Solutions

Triumph Foods Granted Safety Verified Certification Through Matrix Clinical Solutions

Developed with Cleveland Clinic, certification demonstrates Triumph’s commitment to limit the impact of COVID-19 on its facility

JOSEPH, Mo. and SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (June 2, 2021) – A safety verified certification developed by Matrix Clinical Solutions, a Matrix Medical Network®(Matrix) business, in collaboration with Cleveland Clinic, was awarded to pork processor Triumph Foods for its efforts to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission. The program applies rigorous, comprehensive guidelines to establish and sustain healthy, safe, and productive workplaces. Triumph Foods is the third organization to receive the certification and is the second meat processing company to achieve the distinction.

“This certification is an important step in demonstrating to employees and stakeholders that Triumph Foods has taken the necessary steps to effectively limit the impact of COVID-19 in the workplace,” said Matrix Clinical Solutions Chief Medical Officer Daniel Meltzer, M.D., MPH, FACEP. “Matrix and Triumph have been working together for many months and will continue to monitor, assess, and provide on-site support to ensure continued workplace safety and business continuity.”

“We are honored to achieve this certification, which recognizes the hard work of our team members to stay safe during this once-in-a-lifetime pandemic,” said Triumph Foods Chief Executive Officer Mark Campbell. “Together, we aggressively worked to protect everyone’s health and wellness, and we were able to keep our operations running smoothly at the same time – so we are very proud of this accomplishment.”

An in-depth review of policies, procedures and work environment was conducted by Matrix Clinical Solutions to reach its determination that Triumph Foods follows the key safety standards and guidelines, as advised by its team of clinical experts, governing state regulations and guidelines issued by reputable industry bodies. The Safety Verified Certification assesses people, processes and structure. It includes policies and procedures, as well as all aspects of a workplace or other environments where people gather including density, traffic flow, ventilation and physical proximity to other risks.

The certification program follows a multi-disciplinary approach to safety verification, including:

  • On-site assessments based on the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and state regulations
  • Best-in-class protocols based on the well-established clinical and industry expertise of Cleveland Clinic and Matrix
  • Actionable recommendations to address identified health and safety gaps
  • Official safety verification seal following alignment to certification standards
  • Ongoing updates on evolving COVID-19 guidance and regulations

In January 2020, Triumph Foods began a proactive, early planning process that enabled the company to keep its team members safe and healthy from the earliest days of COVID-19. By the time the World Health Organization recognized the novel coronavirus as a pandemic, Triumph Foods had already taken several steps to mandate face coverings and ensure proper distancing and barriers on its production floor. It also added Plexiglass dividers throughout its facility, implemented mandatory temperature taking and hand sanitizing to enter the facility and made on-site testing available to all employees, among many other policies.

Triumph Foods has also offered short-term and long-term leave choices for employees that have needed to take additional extended leave. The company continues to supply free masks, sanitizer, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to employees and has installed new antivirus air handling technology to ensure a safe workplace. Further, Triumph Foods will continue working with public health authorities and employees to encourage safe practices both in and outside of the facility.

“We are proud that the Matrix team noted numerous times how our documentation and actions clearly showed we had a deliberate planning process that was executed throughout the pandemic,” Campbell said. “We will continue our work in keeping our team members healthy and safe.”
