John is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer and litigator. He provides and oversees advice and counsel to Matrix on all legal and regulatory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alliances, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, human resource matters, internal investigations, insurance and other general corporate matters.  Prior to joining Matrix, John served as general counsel of American Well Corp., a leading telehealth technology company. He has also held senior legal positions at AT&T Co., Qwest Communications and TriZetto. Earlier in his career, Mr. Hopkins worked in private practice in Chicago, concentrating on litigation and general corporate law. John earned his Master of Laws in Taxation from DePaul University and his Juris Doctor cum laude from the John Marshall Law School.
